In this video lecture thermoregulation in plants is explained. In Plants high temperature denatures enzymes which stops metabolism and plant cells die. Adaptations for high temperature includes evaporative cooling, closing of stomata and production of heat shock proteins. Low temperature changes the fluidity of lipids in cell membranes and freezing temperature produces ice crystals. Adaptations for low temperature includes production of unsaturated fatty acids in lipid bilayer of cell membrane and addition of such solutes in the cytosol which make the cytosol super cooled liquid.
