apical meristem. Secondary growth is synthesis of secondary tissues secondary xylem, secondary phloem and cork by the division of vascular and cork cambium. Secondary growth is found in woody perenial plants like trees, bushes and wines. Sapwood is outer functional part and heartwood is inner dead part which is non functional. Callus forms at wound areas in plants. Commercial cork is obtained from Quercus suber plants.
